About secure print
Pcounter provides Secure Print functionality using a number of technologies, including embedded software terminals, print terminals, networked based card-readers, print release stations or simply releasing the print jobs from a smartphone or tablet.
In a standard printing environment, a user's print jobs are sent directly to the printer for immediate printing. This results in wasted paper and toner when printing is forgotten or no longer needed and not collected. It also presents a security risk, since printed documents often contain sensitive or confidential information.
The Pcounter Secure Print solutions provide a simple solution, by having users print to a central or dedicated print queue, where the print jobs will be held until release by the user, at the printer of their choice.

Print release options
Embedded software terminals
Pcounter’s embedded software provides print release directly on the panel display of Multi-function printers (MFP). This provides a seamless user experience as users login to the MFP using the LCD touchscreen or security card readers.
Embedded software is available for the major MFP brands including: Konica Minolta, Xerox, HP, Lexmark, Ricoh, Toshiba, Kyocera and Sharp.
Quick release using swipe card reader
Using just a swipe card-reader is a cost-effective print release option, which can be used on printers as well as Multi-function Printers. Users print to pull print queue, walks to printer of their choice, and swipes their access card.
Pcounter immediately authenticates and releases all print jobs to the chosen printer.
Print terminal
Print terminals have the same basic functionality as embedded terminals, and are typically used when devices do not support embedded terminals, when complete vendor independence is wanted, or the required functionality is more than just simple print release, to include for example billing code or copy control and accounting.
